Jackanapes Primulas have a distinctive flower structure, with the calyx being partly petaloid. This feature is illustrated below with close up photos of the underside of a flower and its separated components.
Here you can see the underside of the calyx, and how it is modified to be partly petaloid. The central section of the calyx mimics a primula flower, while the outer parts are leaf like.
In this image the flower proper has been separated from the calyx to reveal how part of the calyx has assumed the hue and texture of the petals while the tips show the complex veining you would expect to see on a primula leaf.
